PO Salvatore Rosafort was killed in the line of duty on September 2, 1954 while patrolling on his motorcycle on North Bedford Road at the Sutton's Row intersection and struck by another motorist. His is the only line of duty death suffered by The Mount Kisco police Department. PO Rosafort, at the time of his death, was twenty-eight years old, a Veteran of the US Navy, and a Police Officer for two and a half years. He left behind his wife the former Betty Hester, a daughter Carol, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Salvatore Rosafort, brothers; Donald, Harry, Peter, and, sister Evelyn. He was also a member of the Mount Kisco Fire Department Mutual Engine and Hose Company, and the Mount Kisco Italian-American Club.
